This accredited programme is suitable for staff working and carrying out home visits to families in Luton with children aged 0 – 4yrs.

Supporting a Safe Home Environment for babies, toddlers and young children up to age five.

Children under the age of five years are more at risk from an accident in the home than anywhere else. Many of these accidents ARE preventable. Developed specifically to address this issue, our course focuses on the most common types of home accidents affecting this age group and their prevention.

This one day course is accredited by City & Guilds and will include an exam at the end of the day from a nationally recognised awarding body (Exam results once marked will be provided along with an examination certificate).

What you will learn:

Falls, burns, scalds, poisoning and fire are the biggest cause of serious and fatal injuries in the home. This course will show effective measures, both behavioural and environmental, to reduce the risk of injury from these accidents.

Course content includes:

  • Identifying which children are most at risk and why
  • Child development in relation to accidents
  • Accident prevention in the home
  • Risk assessment in the home
  • Day 2 is optional for staff who would like to become Safe at Home Assessors click here for more information
